Head hunted by Vision Express to take on ailing joint venture, successfully restructures the loss making business and substantially increases asset value within 6 months breaking almost every practice KPI record in the process. Nominated for best newcomer to VE joint ventures.

Metzler UK international (UK subsidiary of the worlds 3rd largest optical frame distributor at the time) goes into administration. Imran purchases assets and goodwill and restructures as Mikah Eyewear re-negotiating key licenses for UK and Ireland distribution rights. Brands secured include Longines, Reebok and Revlon. New brands added to portfolio include Mandarina Duck, Blumarine (from Italy) and Jill Stuart (from USA). Takeover of lens laboratory to afford further vertical integration to optical infrastructure.

Design and manufacturing starts in the Far East for Mikah Interiors – Optical interior design and shop fitting. HO2 Management is set up to look after the day-to-day running of Imran’s business portfolio and to provide a structure for capitalising on future emerging market opportunities. Awarded Northwest Young Entrepreneur of the Year by NewsQuest.

Streamlines optical portfolio and starts iTeddy journey with appearance on Dragon’s Den. iTeddy becomes an instant hit and one of the must have gadgets of 2007 as voted by the Sunday Times.

iTeddy fever starts to spread around the world, distribution secured in over 40 countries as well as every major UK Toy retailer. Awards and press coverage from all around the world including, CNN, FOX, USA Today and world Toy Innovation 2008. Imran joins forces with Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire star and fellow entrepreneur, Ben Way to expand The Rainmakers corporate venturing business opening up access to exciting new opportunities with a focus on environmental technologies, internet, innovation, robotics and new IP. Awarded Lancashire and NorthWest Young Director of the year by the Institute of Directors

Joins the board of TIE entrepreneurs as a charter member and appointed by the Prime Minister to the “Backing Young Britian” campaign. Launch of The “RAW” enterprise community. Awarded an Honorary Doctorate for services to enterpreneurship. Joins UMIP as director of Entrepreneurship and launches Envestors in Manchester to help address the funding gap for startu-ps and high growth businesses. Acquires stake in half a dozen high growth businesses.
